Heroes - A Grade 5/6 Writing Contest. McNally Robinson for Kids and Scholastic Canada invite grade 5 and 6 students from Manitoba to submit an essay or story of 500 to 800 words. The story must be heroic but it may be fact or fiction. Individual entries are welcome and teachers may sponsor up to five students each.

Join author Colleen Nelson, as she discusses her best selling teen novel Tori by Design on July 12 at 7:00 in the Atrium at McNally Robinson Grant Park.

Colleen sold over 100 copies of her novel when she launched it here in April, and lucky teen readers will have an opportunity to ask her questions about her writing and about the story itself in this up-close and personal event!

There is no charge for the evening, but teens must have read the book. Please register at the Kids Service Desk.

Thanks for a great workshop! We are always open to suggestions for other workshops. Have a great idea - let us know.

For ages 13 and up. Hone your writing skills and techniques with John Toone, author of Catch That Catfish, Hope and the Walleye and The Imagination Manifesto.

This promises to be an exciting opportunity to learn from an established author with a passion for young adult fiction.

The session will be held two consecutive Wednesdays, May18th and 25th in the atrium from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Cost is $25.00. Pre-registration is required, and we have a few spots left.
