The Wheel of Time is Turning Faster by Chadwick Ginther - Wednesday, Aug 19, 2009 at 11:17am

Tor Books, publisher of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time fantasy novels, has pushed the publication of The Gathering Storm - Book 12 of the series - forward from November 3rd, 2009 to Tuesday, October 27th. The Gathering Storm is the first of three novels to be finished from Jordan's notes by fellow fantasy scribe Brandon Sanderson. Read an interview with Sanderson here.

Hugo Awards and Prix Aurora Awards Announced at Worldcon in Montreal by Chadwick Ginther - Monday, Aug 10, 2009 at 3:09pm

Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book, which recently scored a World Fantasy Award nomination (along with just about every other major honour it's eligible for) has won the Hugo Award for best novel.

Marseguro (reviewed here) by Regina's Edward Willett has won the 2009 Prix Aurora Award in the Best Long Form Work in English category. You can read an interview with Willett here. If you haven't tried Marseguro or its sequel, Terra Insegura yet, you should, both are thoroughly engaging reads.

SF Awards Parade Continues by Chadwick Ginther - Monday, Jul 13, 2009 at 3:04pm

Recently, a number of Science Fiction/Fantasy Awards have been presented. The Cordwainer Smith Rediscovery Award, for fiction "of unusual originality deserving of renewed attention" went to A. Merrit. The announcement was made at Readercon in Boston. Merrit's work is widely believed to be an inspiration for the hit television show, Lost.
