The Search for Wondla is the first in a new trilogy from , the illustrator of The Spiderwick Chronicles. It is always difficult to follow up a huge success like Spiderwick, but I think he has done it! This story is so much fun, with loads of action and danger.
Eva Nine has never been on the surface of her planet. She has never seen the sun or walked outside, and has never even seen another human being. She has spent all of her twelve years living underground with Muthr, her guardian robot. After a frightening invasion of her home, Eva escapes to the surface and begins an adventurous journey to find others like herself.

The big question: Is Origami Yoda real? Of course he's a real finger puppet made of a real piece of paper, but is he REAL? Can he really see the future and use the Force?
This is the dilemma facing the Grade 6 students of McQuarrie Middle School. Origami Yoda is the creation of Dwight, who is the oddest kid in school, but also an origami master. Origami Yoda appears to give advice that actually works - but how can he be so smart and Dwight so clueless? This is Tommy's (Dwight's friend) case file of his investigation into The Strange Case of Origami Yoda.
I found that Origami Yoda's advice coupled with his hilarious "Yoda speak" to be a lot of fun. The problems facing the kids in McQuarrie Middle School are realistic as well as outrageous. The result is a funny, quirky story complete with silly line drawings that will be sure to appeal to fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Awesome this book is!

The winners of the Grades Five & Six writing contest have been chosen. This year's subject was "All Creatures Great and Small". Once again this contest was a great success, with 48 entries submitted and 5 winners decided upon. We would like to thank all the authors for their creative and enthusiastic animal stories. It was a pleasure to read all of these original works and difficult to choose only five.
I wonder what our theme should be next year...
And the winners are..

Independent booksellers in the United States each year choose what they think are the best books published for children. The list is big, as is the American Booksellers Association that sponsors these awards. The reason this list is of interest to us is because we wonder if these choices will appeal to Canadian readers as well.
