Graphic Novel Writing and Illustration Contest at Saskatoon Store

Write and illustrate your own 10-15 page graphic novel, with original characters, story, and artwork. Content must be appropriate for ages 10-14.

The contest is open to anyone ages 10-14.

Submission deadline is August 9, 2008. 1st, 2nd and 3rd-place winners will be contacted August 16. All submissions must be left at the Kids Desk in an envelope marked with the author/illustrator’s name, age, address, phone number, and parent’s name.

Submissions may be retrieved after August 16, 2008.

Some of Canada's finest Aboriginal writers were honoured at a Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation on Friday, October 19 at the Radisson Hotel in Saskatoon. The wrap up for the Fourth Annual Anskohk Aboriginal Literature Festival featured food, entertainment, and a chance for some of Canada's Aboriginal literati to celebrate together.

Saskatchewan readers will have the chance to vote for their favourite new Saskatchewan book for the inaugural Reader's Choice Award. Sponsored by the Regina Public Library, the book to receive the most votes during the month of September will be awarded the new Readers’ Choice Award. The author of the winning title will receive the award's $2,000 cash prize at the Saskatchewan Book Awards Gala in November.
