Coming in 2009: McNally Robinson Toronto by McNally Robinson - Wednesday, Oct 29, 2008 at 3:27pm

WHO WE ARE

McNally Robinson is an independent bookseller: family-oriented, committed to the values of community bookselling, and determined to present an alternative to corporate-chain bookstores.

WHERE WE ARE

Our focus is on Canada, and we work closely with authors and publishers to reach Canadians with their own stories. Moreover, we select all our books, wherever written, to reflect the interests and circumstances of Canadians.

WHAT WE ARE

We firmly believe in a literate society: one in which reading is co-relative with a thoughtful, imaginative and fulfilled life.

COMING SOON

Don Mills

On April 22, 2009, McNally Robinson will open its doors in Toronto.

The Toronto store is an anchor tenant in a new style of shopping mall developers call a "lifestyle centre". Built as outdoor streetscapes with parking surrounding the development and substantial onsite condominium developments, lifestyle centres create a natural urban mix of large and small stores, grassy areas, bicycle stands, window shopping, free shuttlebus, and automobile access. Clearly lifestyle centres feel much more organic than the artificial enclosures of indoor regional shopping centres and they have been wildly successful in California and other parts of the United States, but the question is: will Torontonians endure exposure to the weather? We shall see.

POSITIONS AVAILABLE

We are currently seeking staff for our Toronto location. Positions include booksellers, shipper/receivers, a magazine person, a display person, a giftware merchandiser and restaurant staff.

Starting date is mid-March.

Retail experience and university education preferred.

Please send resume and cover letter to barbk@grant.mcnallyrobinson.ca citing your preference in the subject line: bookseller, kids books, or Prairie Ink Restaurant.
