In a seven-figure deal, Universal has obtained the film rights to 's Wheel of Time series. The adaptations will begin with The Eye of the World. The series was previously under option to NBC, which had planned a television miniseries.
died last year at the age of 58, leaving the final volume of the series unfinished. Up-and-coming fantasy author will pen the twelfth novel, A Memory of Light, based on extensive notes Jordan left behind, and working with the aid of the author's widow and editor, .
