The Crime Writer's Association has released the shortlists for their annual Dagger Awards. The Daggers are awarded in several categories, including the Duncan Lawrie Dagger for best novel in English, the Duncan Lawrie International Dagger, the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger for best thriller, and the John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger.

In addition, , author of the Kinsey Malone novels, has been awarded the Cartier Diamond Dagger for sustained excellence in the genre of crime writing.
