The list of nominees for the has been released. The , named after the man who coined the term "graphic novel" and creator of The Spirit have long been considered comic's "Oscars". 2008 brings a diverse collection of titles and creators to the award.
Notable among the books nominated are: DC Comics' Y: The Last Man, and The Spirit, Dark Horse Comics' Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8, and The Umbrella Academy, and Marvel Comics' The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born.
