McNally Robinson Booksellers and Scholastic Canada invite grades five and six students to enter our Dear Canada writing contest. Last year's contests were a great success - please join us for this second annual event!
Canadian history is filled with exciting people and places. Submit an essay, journal, story or diary, of between 500 and 800 words, celebrating any aspect of Canada's rich history.
Individual entries are welcome; teachers may sponsor up to five students each. Submissions must clearly identify the author's name, phone number and school, on a separate page, and become the property of McNally Robinson Booksellers.
In Winnipeg, entries will be accepted at both our Grant Park and Polo Park (after April 1) locations until 10:00 pm Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Winners will be announced on May 14, 2008 and prizes will be awarded at a celebration to be held at Prairie Ink Restaurant, Polo Park, on May 21, 2008, where the winning entries will be read aloud by their authors. Celebrate Canada will also be involved in our celebrations.
In Saskatoon, entries of 500 - 525 words will be accepted via email to ann@saskatoon.mcnallyrobinson.ca before 10:00 pm Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Winners in Saskatoon will be contacted prior to the celebration held in the Art Alcove on Thursday, May 1.
Prizes include gift cards from McNally Robinson ranging from $25.00 to $75.00, and the first place author will also win a Dear Canada library from Scholastic Canada for their school's library.
