More Chabon to Hit the Big Screen

by Ryan McBride - Tuesday, Feb 19, 2008 at 10:35am

Variety reports that two Michael Chabon books will be making their way to the big screen some time in the not-too-distant future.

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay is already in production, while the film rights to The Yiddish Policemen's Union have just been bought by Joel and Ethan Coen.

This is almost certainly good news for fans of both Chabon and the Coen brothers: the Coens' dark and quirky touch should be ideally suited to Chabon's noirish alternative-history tale of an alcoholic detective who sets out to solve a murder in an Alaska that, after the Second World War, has been turned into a settlement for Jewish refugees.

Scott Rudin, who produced the Coens' adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old Men (as well as an adaptation of Chabon's Wonder Boys), will produce The Yiddish Policemen's Union as well.
