In East, where you are born determines your true nature. Rose seems destined for travel and adventure, much to her mother's dismay. As things get worse for her hard-working but poor family, a great white bear appears at their door and offers to fix their misfortune - as long as Rose spends the rest of her life living in his northern castle.
Things are not as they seem at the castle, but in her desire to discover the truth Rose makes a terrible mistake. She embarks on an arduous journey through the Arctic in her efforts to set things right.
Pattou based East on a Norwegian fairy tale, but Rose is no damsel in distress waiting for her Prince Charming. A great read for teens who like adventure and a little bit of romance.
