takes us back to World War II as seen through the eyes of a naive sixteen-year-old Saskatchewan farm boy.
Edward, the main character, has a home life that is no Little House on the Prairie. This hooked me from the start.
Slade does a great job describing warfare in non-romantic terms. I laughed. I cried. Truly a gritty read and a must-read for early teens.
