Opera Club presented first Met Prep on Macbeth

Last night Mcnally Robinson broke new ground by introducing its very first Opera Club. The evening's events were hosted by June Slobodian of Valhalla Opera Tours. June offered a presentation on Macbeth, the Shakespearen play, but more fittingly, the opera by Verdi.

Over 40 opera enthusiasts were in attendence. The lessons we received were both expected (the storyline of Macbeth, comments on the theme of witchcraft and the roles that women play in the plot), and unexpected (what Placido Domingo wears while in his dressing room).

It was an informative and fun premiere for the Opera Club. It will see its next performance at 7:00 pm on Wednesday February 13th, when it will take on Manon Lescaut.

**The Opera Club's topic of discussion coordinates with the live Metropolitan Opera being presented in local movie theatres shortly thereafter.
