, popular author of the Discworld series of fantasy novels, recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with a rare form of early onset Alzheimer's disease.
revealed the news with his typical humour in a message entitled An Embuggerance. The 59 year old author remains optimistic about his prognosis, and is continuing work on his Non-Discworld novel Nation, scheduled for a 2008 release.
The Discworld series, beginning in 1983 with The Colour of Magic, has seen over thirty novels published, each satirizing some facet of contemporary culture through the lens of fantasy. Indeed, prior to the Harry Potter phenomenon, was Britain's best selling contemporary author.
