Ever since the release of The Deathly Hallows Harry Potter fans have been wondering if J.K. Rowling would ever write another book. The good news is: she has! The bad news is that if you don't know her personally, you probably won't get to read it...
Rowling has recently announced that she will be publishing The Tales of Beedle the Bard, an ancient tome given to Hermione by Dumbledore in the seventh book. Rowling's edition will contain The Tale of the Three Brothers, a story which played a considerable role in the events of the final book, as well as four other stories.
Unfortunately Rowling will only be producing seven copies. Six have been given to close friends and family who helped her in the creation of Harry Potter. The seventh copy will be auctioned at Sotheby's in London on December 13th.
Each book was handwritten and illustrated by Rowling, leatherbound and ornamented with silver and semi-precious stones. Current estimates for the auction price of the final book are set around $40,000 but could go much higher. All profits from the auction will be donated to a children's charity in Europe.
Rowling has stated that she has no plans for the book to be mass produced in the future. So Harry Potter fans who can't afford such a high ticket price will have to hope that she changes her mind.
