Last week, there were many wagging tongues around the AP/Ipsos poll on American reading habits. There is, however, a thoughtful response to all of it at The Written Nerd. Rightfully pointed out, among other things, is that reading levels have actually gone up south of the border, and that how you frame a statistic has drastic consequences for the way in which it is understood.
