Ongoing Kids Events

by McNally Robinson - Thursday, Mar 31, 2011 at 11:11am

Join author Colleen Nelson, as she discusses her best selling teen novel Tori by Design on July 12 at 7:00 in the Atrium at McNally Robinson Grant Park.

Colleen sold over 100 copies of her novel when she launched it here in April, and 5 lucky readers will have an opportunity to ask her questions about her writing and about the story itself in this up-close and personal event!

There is no charge for the evening, but teens must have read the book. Please register at the Kids Service Desk.

Each spring we invite a local author to share his/her expertise on some facet of the writing process. For spring 2011 we are promoting our "Teen Writers Boot Camp."

How to Become a Writer: Teen Writing Workshop will be held May 18 and 25 (both Wednesdays), 7:00-8:30 pm in the Atrium. Hone your skills and techniques with John Toone, author of Catch That Catfish, Hope and the Walleye, and The Imagination Manifesto. For ages 13 and up. Cost is $25.00. Please register at the Kids Service Desk on the mezzanine.

Generally held over the course of three separate evenings, these writing workshops are a great introduction to an exciting world! Previous authors have included Rob Keough (Gem Lakes), and Anita Daher (Spider's Song). Dates and cost will be announced on our events page as well as in our newsletter in the new year.
