CBA Children's Author of the Year (2006) Kenneth Oppel will be visiting our Saskatoon store on Sunday, October 14.

McNally Robinson will also host Kenneth Oppel in Winnipeg at the Manitoba Theatre for Young People on Monday, October 15.

The multi-award-winning Oppel will be reading from Darkwing, the long-awaited prequel to the acclaimed Silverwing saga.

Set against a tableau of disappearing dinosaurs and the ascent of the mammal kingdom, Darkwing is the story of Dusk, a young chiropter (arboreal glider) who discovers that, unlike the rest of his colony, he can fly. This strange gift makes him feel like an outcast, but it will also make him a saviour. After most of his colony is savagely massacred by the felids - earth's first mammalian carnivores - Dusk must lead his fellow chiropters to a new home, and a new life.

Visit the official Darkwing site for more news, excerpts, and clips from an exclusive interview with Kenneth Oppel discussing Darkwing.
