An upcoming event at our Grant Park store in Winnipeg

Philip Slayton is a retired lawyer and legal academic, whose recent title, Lawyers Gone Bad: Money, Sex and Madness in Canada’s Legal Profession, has, to say the least, generated some controversy among his former colleagues in the profession. He will be appearing at our Grant Park store, on Tuesday, September 25th, for a discussion of his book and the surrounding issues. Come lend your opinions.

In his book, Slayton details the practices of some lawyers who, shall we say, strayed over the boundaries of accepted ethical standards. After a recent article in Maclean's magazine entitled "Lawyers are Rats," the Canadian Bar Association launched an aggressive response to the magazine and to Slayton himself, and there has been lots of talk amongst lawyers themselves.
