According to Publisher's Weekly, the movies are still wooing comic books. It has been a long and difficult courtship, but comic fans are finally starting to see the pay off.
It is obvious whenever one enters a movie theatre. Comic book properties are everywhere. The success of mainstream properties like Spider-Man, and Batman have led producers to lesser known works like Sin City and 300, but it doesn't stop there.
The next comic to see life on the big screen is IDW's 30 Days of Night, created by and . 30 Days tells the story of a vampire attack on the northern Alaska town of Barrow during the titular thirty days of darkness. It stars .
Whiteout, by and , published by Oni, will star as a U.S. Marshal investigating a murder at an Antarctic research station. Whiteout was partially filmed in Winnipeg.
Top Cow's Wanted, based on the story by and , has received a lot of media buzz due to the casting of in a major role. Wanted features a working class beta male who unexpectedly finds himself in a superhuman crime cartel that controls much of the world.
The feature I am most excited about, however, is solo directorial debut as he adapts The Spirit. Already cast are as crimelord The Octopus, as Silken Floss , as Sand Seref, and as the Spirit. I for one, can't wait to see bring his hard boiled crime sensibilities to this comic icon.
