Books I Am Anxiously Awaiting by Alexandra Kroeger - Wednesday, Jul 14, 2010 at 9:34am

One of the frustrating things about being a bibliophile is that it's SO HARD to wait for those books that haven't been released yet. They look SO interesting and you know that you'll love them - but you can't read them yet because nobody can.

Misery loves company, so here are a couple of titles that I can't wait for. Maybe other people will be wretchedly excited with me!

The first book I'm eagerly awaiting is Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, the third in the Hunger Games Trilogy, releasing August 24th. If you haven't read these books yet, you should start now. The Hunger Games (by which I mean the games themselves, not the book, which I reviewed here) are like Survivor on overdrive - but instead of the contestants being voted off one by one, they kill each other until only one is left. Katniss enters the Games to take the place of her little sister, but little does she know that a revolution is brewing - and everyone is looking to her. If the first two books in the series are any indication, this is going to be one wild ride!

I am also very excited about Robin McKinley's Pegasus, which is out on November 2. According to the publisher:

Because of a thousand-year-old alliance between humans and pegasi, Princess Sylviianel is ceremonially bound to Ebon, her own pegasus, on her twelfth birthday. The two species coexist peacefully, despite the language barriers separating them. Humans and pegasi both rely on specially trained Speaker magicians as the only means of real communication.

But it's different for Sylvi and Ebon. They can understand each other. They quickly grow close - so close that their bond becomes a threat to the status quo - and possibly to the future safety of their two nations.
Robin McKinley has been one of my favourite authors ever since I picked up The Hero and the Crown at a school book fair. I have a few favourites, but I love them all. I know that this one won't be any different.
