

The Manitoba Book Awards 2010 were presented on April 25 and in the Young People's categories the following were selected from a very strong field:
McNally Robinson Book of the Year for Young People Award (Younger Category)- Timmerman Was Here by , published by Tundra Books.
McNally Robinson Book of the Year for Young People Award (Older Category)- Puppet by , published by Tundra Books.
Since the event's inception in 1989, during which a single award (the McNally Robinson Book Award) was presented, the Manitoba Book Awards (formerly the Manitoba Writing and Publishing Awards) has grown to feature 13 categories. Nominees and winners are selected by jurors drawn from across Manitoba and Canada.
Puppet was also chosen as the winner in the Youth Literature category of the Helen and Stan Vine Canadian Jewish Book Awards. "Open to all, the Helen and Stan Vine Canadian Jewish Book Awards celebrates excellence in contemporary Canadian writing that reflects Jewish themes and subjects. The awards ceremony is a moving and inspiring ode to the most valued form of expression of the Jewish people - books. Prizes are given in History, Fiction, Yiddish, Youth Literature, Holocaust Literature, Biography & Memoir, Scholarship on a Jewish Subject, and Jewish Thought & Culture. The awards ceremony is to be held Thursday, May 27 at the Al Green Theatre, in Toronto - followed by a book signing."
