Jane Recommends ...Irish Chain By: Barbara Haworth-attard by McNally Robinson - Wednesday, Apr 14, 2010 at 12:04pm Jane is 10 years old, lives in Toronto and wants to be a famous author when she grows up. In the meantime she helps out McNally Robinson by reviewing books for young readers.

Rose lives in Halifax during 1917 and hates school. She is great at telling stories from her grandma's Irish Chain quilt but it takes her three hours just to write a sentence down on paper. Because of this she has been held back a few years in school and if she is held back one more year she will be in the same class as her little sister Winnie! Then the explosion happens and Rose blames herself. Will Rose's life ever be the same again?

I think that Irish Chain was a brilliant book and that everyone should read it.
