
Dr. Emma LaRocque's Night Table Recommendations

As a professor I am very busy and rarely, if ever, have time to read for
pleasure. But I do usually enjoy the books I read as part of my research and teaching.
Presently, I am browsing through a number of books including: Other Destinies by ; I Thought Pocahontas was a Movie edited by and ; The Colonizer's Model of the World by ; 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus by ; One Native Life by and any poetry by or .
For pure fun or relaxation I read Winnie the Pooh (I have many collections). Or the Library Lion or laugh over cat pics and sayings in cat calendars.
For music - I love music but business, such as writing under deadlines has kept me from having any time to really sit and enjoy music. I often listen to music in the car - my favorites are old fashioned blues and beautiful symphonic classics. But Baby Boomer hurtin' songs by , , , , or go good with rush hour. And of course . Almost any song by is a treat. I also love Live in London by . And rendition of "Hallelujah" is simply awesome. "You Raise Me Up" is great too. As is "Amazing Grace" by .
For TV - I love any medical shows, both fictional or real. And I really enjoy House Hunters and The Dog Whisperer.
For movies, one of my all-time favorites is A Walk in the Clouds with Keanu Reeves.
