until 11:00 p.m. Friday March 26, 2010.

1st PLACE
$75.00 Gift Card from McNally Robinson for the author, and a collection of books by , celebrity judge and author of The Guardians of Ga'Hoole series, for the winner's school.
2nd PLACE
$50.00 Gift Card from McNally Robinson.
3rd PLACE
$40.00 Gift Card from McNally Robinson.
1st & 2nd HONOURABLE MENTION

McNally Robinson Booksellers and Scholastic Canada invite grade five and six students from Manitoba to submit an essay or story of between 500 and 800 words. The subject is animals, tame or wild. Birds, fish and crawly things are included.
Individual entries are welcome; teachers may sponsor up to five students each.Submissions must be typed and clearly identify the author's name, phone number, and school on a separate page. Please do not put your personal information on your work. All entries become the property of McNally Robinson Booksellers.
Winners will be announced on Thursday, April 15, 2010. Prizes will be awarded at a celebration to be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010, where the winning entries will be read aloud by their authors.
