Interview with Harriet McDougal and Brandon Sanderson

by Cory Beal - Tuesday, Oct 20, 2009 at 1:35pm

Robert Jordan passed away in 2007, before completing book twelve in his bestselling Wheel of Time series. His widow and editor, Harriet McDougal, chose Brandon Sanderson, bestselling author of the Mistborn series, to complete the book. The size of the volume was such that it could not be contained in a single book, making The Gathering Storm the first of three novels that will make up A Memory of Light. This short sequence will complete the struggle against the Shadow, bringing to a close a journey that began almost twenty years ago and marking the conclusion of The Wheel of Time, the pre-eminent fantasy epic of our era.

In the first of three videos, Jordan's wife Harriet discusses how Sanderson was chosen to complete the series, and Sanderson speaks about how he first laid eyes on the notes and materials left by Jordan.
