Hayden Trenholm provides a fascinating collection of characters. The aboriginal (and borg) private detective Buzz Wannamaker, his partner Darwhal Singh, trying to rediscover his Sikh roots and our lead, Frank Steele himself. Melding Frank's hardboiled first person point of view with the third person viewpoints of his detectives and allies gives the novel a unique voice and feel.

Trenholm was nominated for an Aurora Award for the first in this series, Defining Diana and I'd be unsurprised to see its sequel win similar accolades. Steel Whispers brings renewed freshness to an old favourite subgenre of SF, Cyberpunk.
