Ever wonder what happens after "happily ever after"? When Prince Armand is kidnapped, it's up to Cinderella (known here as Princess Danielle) to rescue him. Helping her out are fellow princesses, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.
In the first installment of his Princess series, has drafted a world that feels tantalizingly familiar. And it is. The Stepsister Scheme is deeply infused with elements of every half remembered fairy tale from your childhood, and yet, the author manages to lay the groundwork for a kingdom and the world beyond its borders, that are uniquely his own.
Danielle's wicked stepsisters, who have no intention of letting her enjoy any happiness, let alone ever after, have crafted a scheme whose ramifications have a far broader reach for the kingdom of Lorindar than just petty vengeance. Hines has drawn inspiration from the original, darker tellings of popular fairy tales and performed a delicious mash up with action heroine flavour. This is better than Disney, better than Charlie's Angels, and I for one am glad there are more to come.
