Marko sets off for Venice to find his physician father Alessandro, who is missing and feared dead. In this creepy gothic novel, the reader watches Marko slide into 18th century Venice, a city shrouded by fog and perched on the edge of the Shadow Queen's evil.
Marko's only help comes from a doomed girl, Sorrel; a powerful vampire, Peter; and a plucky mongrel he names Dog. Together the group of friends persists despite exhaustion, blazing away the mask of horror that threatens to extinguish goodness forever. The Kiss of Death is a powerful, fast-moving read for any teenager.
