Susan Maclagan

Susan Maclagan is a freelance flutist, flute and theory instructor and magazine writer. She has studied the flute for more than 45 years. Her career has included playing in the Calgary Philharmonic, in the Canadian Chamber Orchestra and in a flute and harp or piano ensemble called Windsong; teaching privately with a specialty in flute technique and at institutions such as the University of Toronto and Havergal College; and writing for flute magazines and newsletters. Susan has studied at the University of Toronto, the Royal Conservatory of Toronto, the Banff School of Fine Arts, the Aspen School of Music and Jeunesse Musicales of Canada and has attended many flute master classes and National Flute Association conventions. Her teachers have included Geoffrey Gilbert, Louis Moyse, and Jeanne Baxtresser. Her most recent achievement is the publication of “A Flute Dictionary for the Modern Flutist”, Scarecrow Press, April 2009.
