The Six by Mark Alpert (from a Two Thumbs Up reviewer)

The Six

$22.50

Adam is the main character and he is strong-willed, determined and brave. He was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at age six. Sigma is an artificial intelligence, who becomes evil and threatens to take his revenge on the whole world. Adam makes the choice, along with five other sick children, to leave their bodies and have their brain cells transplanted into a robot. This group becomes the Six and must fight against Sigma.

If you have never read a science fiction book, this might be a good starter book for you. It's easy to follow, the vocabulary is manageable, and the plot is fairly simple. Although the book was well written, I prefer other science fiction books, like Deadly Design or The Hive Series.

The Secrets of Attraction by Robin Constantine (from a Two Thumbs Up reviewer)

Tuesday, Jul 14, 2015 at 5:48pm

Madison seems to have it all: good grades, a hot and super sweet boyfriend, and great friends. So when the shocking truth comes out, she starts to question everything around her. Meanwhile, Jesse is recovering from a break up that broke his heart and his band. He also works at the coffee shop that Madison visits every Thursday after yoga. Together they learn that sometimes you have to follow your heart just as much as your mind.

This book was just okay. It was really long and kind of flat, but I loved the characters, especially Jesse's band. I felt it dragged somewhat but otherwise this was an excellent read. I recommend this book to any fan of love stories. Rating: 6.5/10

Emancipated by M.G. Reyes (from a Two Thumbs Up reviewer)

Monday, Jul 13, 2015 at 12:29pm

Emancipated tells the intriguing tale of six teens all living under the same roof and all liberated from any parental control. When things take a turn for the illegal and one of them is arrested, things quickly go from bad to worse. Everyone has something to hide. Secrets are revealed, lies are unveiled.

I give this book two thumbs up (pun intended) and give it a 7 out of 10. The only disappointment I had would be with the six different points of views which made the book slightly confusing. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good suspense novel.

Battle of the Bulge by Rick Atkinson (from a Two Thumbs Up reviewer)

Saturday, Jul 04, 2015 at 11:26am

In late 1944, Hitler was close to losing the war. His resources were almost depleted and the Allies would soon be in Germany. Almost out of options, he decided to launch one last offensive as an attempt to regain some of his power and put his foot back into the war.

This battle was called the Battle of the Bulge and will always be known as one of America's most famous battles of World War II.

I liked this book because it is far more detailed and therefore more similar to the real story than most of the non-fiction books I've read.  I would recommend this book to people who like historical non-fiction. All in all, this was a great book.

Last Year's Mistake by Gina Ciocca (from a Two Thumbs Up reviewer)

Friday, Jul 03, 2015 at 7:24pm

$19.99

Last Year’s Mistake by Gina Ciocca was a very good book. I even started it and finished it within a day. I didn't want to put it down. The story just drew me in.

The story follows Kelsey, a girl ready to forget all about her old life in Connecticut and start fresh in Rhode Island and who manages to accomplish all that and more. She finds herself a new group of friends and even gets herself a boyfriend. Kelsey's life seems perfect starting her senior year until David, her ex-best friend, walks through the school doors on the first day back. All her emotions and memories come flooding back, but can she still hate him after everything that has happened between them?

I would recommend this book to those who love sappy YA romance novels. I give this book an 8 out of 10.
