One of the best parts of working at McNally Robinson is recommending books that we love to like minded readers.

So, we are pleased to share with you our staff picks for kids and teens. Check out our sweet display of picture books, kids books, and teen books that we wholeheartedly stand behind.

Be First Reading Club: The Lake and the Library by S.M. Beiko

Saturday, Apr 20, 2013 at 12:30pm

Hello Winnipeg teen book fans! Come join us for our next Be First Reading Club selection.

On Thursday, May 2 at 7:00 PM we will be discussing The Lake and the Library by S.M. Beiko, who will also be in attendance! This is the Canadian-born author's first book.

16-year-old Ash is counting down the days until she and her mother move away from their prairie hometown of Treade. After finding her way into the mysterious, condemned building on the outskirts of town - one that has haunted her entire childhood - Ash must choose between the road ahead or the dream she's living before it's too late.

Our Be First Reading Club for teens is a book club with a difference. Receive a preview copy of our selected title and read the book before it even hits the shelves. The registration fee is $5.00. Copies are limited, so sign up ASAP! For more information, check out the info page here, or contact the Kids service desk.

Be First Reading Club: The Fall and The Program

Friday, Mar 08, 2013 at 9:10pm

Attention Winnipeg teen book fans: our next TWO Be First reading club books have been chosen!

On Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 PM, we will be discussing The Fall by award-winning Winnipeg writer Colleen Nelson, who will also be in attendance! Please note that the date of March 28 as listed in the March/April edition of The Bookseller is incorrect.

The Fall charts the lives of three boys as they deal with the death of their friend and brother.

A week later on Thursday, April 18 at 7:00 PM, our second session will be for The Program by Suzanne Young.

In Sloane's world, true feelings are forbidden, teen suicide is an epidemic and the only solution is The Program. But she knows that everyone who's been through it returns as a blank slate.

Our Be First reading group for teens is a book club with a difference. Receive a preview copy of our selected title and read the book before it even hits the shelves. The registration fee is $5.00. Copies are limited, so sign up ASAP! For more information, check out the info page here, or contact the Kids service desk.
