Lured to Victorian London from New York by the Dark Sister demons who torture her into accepting her warlock shape shifter capabilities, sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray reluctantly accepts her fate. Although she is dramatically rescued by the Shadowhunters Will and Jem, Tessa remains suspicious of their motives, especially when they expose her weak brother's greed. Who is the evil Magister and why does he want Tessa? Find out on August 31 in time for one last rush of reading before school, when Clockwork Angel, the first volume of new trilogy (The Infernal Devices) is released. Same world as her Mortal Instrument series. 135 years earlier. Clare is at her scorching best in this gripping blend of steampunk, magical sword play, brooding heroes and gruesome monsters. Age 14+.

Remember how excited I was to hear that and were editing an anthology about zombies and unicorns? Well, I got hold of an advanced readers copy of Zombies vs. Unicorns from the publisher, and I can truthfully say that it has lived up to my (very high) expectations. It's not very fair to write a review, because not everybody can read it yet, but I just had to share SOMETHING about it. There are beautiful stories (generally featuring unicorns), creepy stories (generally featuring zombies), funny stories (featuring either, though my favourite funny story has a rainbow-farting unicorn) and stories that stick with you - and not in a teeth-in-your-arm or horn-impaling-your-chest way, either. Whether they are about unicorns or about zombies, all of the stories are very well done. But it's not only the stories that are awesome. and use the introductions to the stories to further their own unicorn/zombie agendas - and I would be lying terribly if I said they were not hilarious.
So now you can't wait to read Zombies vs. Unicorns, and I apologize. But you only have to wait until September 22! Buying this is the perfect consolation for having to start school again! (Whoops, I usually try not to drop the s-bomb until the middle of August.) I would consider giving up my readers copy to somebody who just couldn't wait, but if - and only if - you can find me a real-live rainbow-farting unicorn.

One of the frustrating things about being a bibliophile is that it's SO HARD to wait for those books that haven't been released yet. They look SO interesting and you know that you'll love them - but you can't read them yet because nobody can.
Misery loves company, so here are a couple of titles that I can't wait for. Maybe other people will be wretchedly excited with me!

If you're a Percy Jackson fan, you've probably heard that the first book in new series The Kane Chronicles, The Red Pyramid, is coming out today, Tuesday, May 4 - and if you're anything like us at the bookstore, you can't wait to read it either! Instead of featuring Greek mythology, this series is about Egyptian gods and goddesses. It all starts when Carter and Sadie Kane's father blows up the British museum...
To celebrate the release, I interviewed my co-worker Josef to see what he thinks about this exciting new series.
