A. Lee Martinez is at his best when he ignores the "rules". In combining a pulp science fiction setting with crime noir sensibility, he has crafted his strongest fiction since his blisteringly good debut Gil's All Fright Diner.

Gil's was such a strong debut that In the Company of Ogres and The Nameless Witch, both fine and entertaining stories in their own rights, suffered under the expectations, and desires of fans to see more of Duke and Earl,Gil's' werewolf & vampire leads.

X men Get Manga Treatment by Chadwick Ginther - Wednesday, Dec 12, 2007 at 10:47am

Marvel Comics in partnership with Del Rey Books, will be releasing original English language Manga titles featuring Wolverine and the X-Men.

The books are expected to have a 2009 release, and will not be a part of the regular X-Men continuity. According to the press release, the stories will have familiar elements, but will take the characters in radical new directions.

Prolific author Jim Butcher is back with the fourth tale in his Codex Alera series. Once again, Butcher shows his talent for blending genres, Captain's Fury will appeal to fans of military fantasy, as well as those who prefer their novels filled with political intrigue.

One can say many things about author Jim Butcher, but top of the list has to be his ability to keep his reader's turning pages. Each chapter you finish forces you to read the next until you look up and realize it is after midnight, but maybe, just maybe you can squeeze those last seventy pages in before you pass out.
