Categories: Reviews, Ongoing Kids Events in WinnipegAs the Ladybug Foundation looks forward at the economic crisis we see that homelessness, hunger and poverty impacts us all. My hope is that when everyone looks back on these troubling times we remember how we all cared and helped each other. The Ladybug Foundation has raised over two million dollars to help Canadian hunger and homelessness and support more than forty shelters, missions, soup kitchens and food banks across Canada. We all have a lot of work to do.
The most exciting thing at the Ladybug Foundation right now is the fact that Rick, who has struggled with poverty for more than 20 years, now works with us on our advisory board. He is one of my heroes and he shows us all that anything is possible.
I love McNally Robinson. They have a beautiful and caring heart because they don't just care about books, they care about the people reading the books, just like me. I read a novel about every week. Here are the three books that I love and want to tell you about.

Categories: ReviewsI saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie recently and really enjoyed it. The movie had a lot more action than I remembered in the novels (and way more fighting!), while still maintaining the brilliant deductive reasoning the master detective was famous for. I started thinking about the many spin offs in the book world that can trace their origins back to Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson.

A Review of Skellig by
Michael has just moved to a new house. His baby sister is ill. Dr. Death keeps coming. One day, Michael is exploring his broken down garage and he finds a mysterious creature. What is it? Is it bird, human or angel?
Skellig is a story of family and friendship. Michael was a very sensitive character and I think when he met Mina it made him see that not everything is what it seems. I find the character of Mina really unique and creative. The book wouldn't work without her. After reading the back of Skellig, I wasn't sure I wanted to read it. I started to read it anyway and discovered that it was actually a great book. It's like that saying, "Never judge a book by its cover."
Skellig was a great read and I would recommend it.
