J.R.R. Tolkien, prior to publishing The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, was the professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford. It was there that he retold the legend of Sigurd as narrative verse. That work has remained unpublished until now. In May, Harper Collins will release The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrún, edited by Tolkien's son Christopher who will also pen the book's introduction. Sigurd's tale has long been one of my favourite legends, and I couldn't be more excited to see what the master of fantasy has done with it.
