Three Canadian authors have made the 2011 Man Booker Prize for Fiction longlist, announced today. Alison Pick's Far to Go, Esi Edugyan's Half-Blood Blues, and Patrick deWitt's The Sisters Brothers.

Alexander MacLeod shortlisted for Frank O'Connor Short Story Award by D - Wednesday, Jul 13, 2011 at 10:00am

Alexander MacLeod, has been shortlisted for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award for his Scotiabank Giller Prize nominated collection, Light Lifting. Alexander MacLeod was born in Inverness, Cape Breton and raised in Windsor, Ontario. Light Lifting was shortlisted for the Giller Prize, the Commonwealth Prize, two Atlantic Book Awards, and went on to become a national bestseller. The Frank O'Connor Award is presented at the Cork International Short Story Festival, and carries a $54,000 prize.
