This fall we hosted a reading of the On the Same Page nominees. On the Same Page is a series of events to raise the profile of Manitoba authors, that culminates in a Manitoba wide book club reading the same Manitoba book. For more information click here.

Penguin Group Canada, CBC Manitoba, the Walrus Magazine, the Winnipeg Public Library and McNally Robinson present Joseph Boyden and John Ralston Saul in Winnipeg at Westminster United Church on Wednesday, October 20th for two special events on the same evening. This tour is in support of their recent works as a part of the Extraordinary Canadians series.

The Reception

People wanting to attend an intimate reception with John Ralston Saul and Joseph Boyden, prior to their speaking engagement that night, are invited to purchase a $65 ticket to a 6:00 pm reception at Westminster United Church in Winnipeg. The reception ticket includes a copy of one of the Saul or Boyden authored Extraordinary Canadian series books, food and wine, a reserved seat at the 7:00 speaking event, a donation to Rossbrook House.

The Speaking Event

To attend the speaking portion of the evening tickets are available for $6.00 per person for entrance to the 7:00 pm event at Westminster United Church. This ticket also entitles the purchaser to a 10% discount on the purchase of one of the Saul or Boyden authored Extraordinary Canadian series books. Net proceeds of this event donated to Rossbrook House.

The Scotiabank Giller Prize is awarded to a Canadian author of a novel or short story fiction collection. The prize was established as the Giller Prize in 1994 by Toronto businessman Jack Rabinovitch in honour of his late wife Doris Giller, a former literary editor at the Toronto Star, and is awarded in November of each year along with a cash reward of $50,000, with $40,000 presented to the winning author and $2,500 each for the other four shortlisted nominees.
