Description

This book, written by Jackie Swirsky and illustrated by her 7 year old gender creative son Jacob Swirsky and sister-in-law Jaimee Appel, features a gender creative child as the main character and teaches the message of acceptance. It is intended to empower children to be proud of themselves just as they are and be accepting of all people no matter their style.

Included in the book are child friendly discussion questions about gender diversity and information on how to create an inclusive, supportive environment for gender creative children.

Jackie has a Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Alberta. She and her husband, Matt, are raising their two children, Jacob and Zev, in Winnipeg. Jackie is a passionate speaker on gender identity and how educators can support children’s gender diversity in schools. Be Yourself is her first published children’s book.
